About the tour
all the Emerald highlights of the Soča Valley
Discover all the emerald highlights of the Soča Valley on a full-day trip from Ljubljana. The journey begins with a drive across the Vršič Pass, Slovenia’s highest mountain road, where we’ll make stops to enjoy the mountain scenery.
highlights of bovec
Going down the pass we’ll stop at the Great Soča Gorge, an impressive stretch of emerald river carved into narrow rock formations. After a brief stop in the town of Bovec, we’ll visit Virje Waterfall (20 min walk), a peaceful spot hidden in the forest, followed by a viewpoint at Boka Waterfall, the most powerful waterfall in Slovenia.
Kozjak waterfall and tolmin gorge
We’ll continue the tour to Kozjak Waterfall (1h walk), reached by a scenic walkway along wooden bridges and forest trails. After the visit, you’ll have time for an optional lunch break. Our last stop is Tolmin Gorge, where a circular trail (1,5 h – 2 h of walking) leads through narrow passages, turquoise pools, and the iconic Devil’s Bridge.
From Tolmin we have about 2 hours drive back to Ljubljana. Please note there’s about 3 hours of walking included in this tour as the only way to get to some of the Gorges and Waterfalls is by foot.
