About Emerald Soča Valley & Kranjska Gora Tour

This day small-group tour takes you deep into the Julian Alps e Soča Valley, a region famous for its wild mountain scenery, turquoise rivers, and charming alpine villages.

Departing from Ljubljana in the morning, we’ll head to Kranjska Gora, stopping first at Gozd Martuljek for incredible views of the Špik mountain range, followed by a short break at Lake Jasna. We’ll then ascend the Passo Vršič (1,611 m), the highest mountain pass in Slovenia, with 50 spectacular hairpin bends and panoramic views of Triglav National Park.

Crossing into the Soča Valley, the landscape opens up to the emerald waters of the Soča River, where we’ll visit the Grande Gola del Soča. After a lunch break in Bovec, you can choose between exploring Cascata di Kozjak or joining one of the valley’s adventure activities – white-water rafting o ziplining. We’ll continue to explore more natural wonders, including Cascata Boka, Slovenia’s highest waterfall, and the fairytale-like Cascata Virje. On our way back toward Ljubljana, we’ll make a short scenic stop at Lago di Predil in Italy.

Led by a local English-speaking guide, this journey combines nature, adventure, and some of the best sights of Slovenia.

8:00 pick up – 2 locations: City Hotel Ljubljana / Levstikov Trg 4

9:10 Gozd Martuljek – We will make a photo stop at one of the best views on Špik mountain range in gozd Martuljek (10 min)

9:20 Lake Jasna – Sightseeing, walk, free time (30 min)

9:50 Vršič pass – Drive, Photo stops (1,5h)

11:20 Great Soča Gorge – Sightseeing stop (20 min)

12:00 Bovec town – Free time, lunch time (1h)

13:00 Afternoon activity (you can choose one of the options):

  1. Option: Kozjak waterfall – Sightseeing, drive + walk (1,5h)
  2. Option: Rafting (2,5h)
  3. Option: Zip-line (2h)

15:30 Boka waterfall – Sightseeing, photo stop (10 min)

  • Bring comfortable walking shoes, long and short sleeves, a light jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses etc. (depending on the weather).
  • Rafting and zip-line operate from 15.3. untill 31.10.
  • If you’d like to do white water rafting bring swimwear and a towel, if you’d like to do zip-line bring closed shoes.
  • Please take your passport – the route crosses into Italy (Lago di Predil).
  • Minimum number of participants for the tour is 4.

1. How long does the tour last?

The total duration of the tour is about 11 hours.

2. How demanding is the walking included in the tour?

All the walks on the tour are easy to moderately easy. Most trails are gravel paths with a few stones or small steps to walk over, but nothing technically difficult. They are suitable for older people, pregnant women and children, as long as they don’t have significant mobility issues. However, the tour is not recommended for wheelchair users or anyone with serious walking difficulties.

3. Do we cross the border into Italy?

Yes — the tour includes a stop at Lago di Predil in Italy, so a valid passport or ID is required.

4. Are optional activities such as rafting or zip-line included?

No, rafting, zip-lining, and the Kozjak Waterfall entry fee are optional and can be added on request.

5. What if the weather is bad?

The tour operates in all weather conditions, even if it’s raining. In case of rain we recommend bringing appropriate rain gear. We would only cancel the tour in case of heavy downpours or other extreme weather. If heavy rain is expected, we will keep you updated about the tour. In case we’d cancel the tour due to extreme weather, you would receive a 100% refund.

6. Is lunch or any other food included in the tour?

There is no food included but there is an hour lunch/coffee break planned in town of Bovec if you’d like to go for lunch.
